I am widowed with two grown up sons, and 5 grandchildren. I have had varied life experiences having been a singer in the group “Sweet Rain”, a nurse, manager of the Principality Building Society, guitar teacher, charity worker, and councillor for two terms which gave me vast experience in local government. I have and still continue to learn Welsh and am extremely proud of our language and culture.
My last term was when Plaid had control of the council for the first time and whole new experience followed. It was an honour for me to be selected by Plaid councillors to be the Chairman “Mayor” where I raised over £20,000 for people suffering from chronic chest conditions. I was also the Chair of Licensing for 2 years.
I have for the past three years been the Chair of Governors in Penrhys
Primary and spend a lot of time at the school as a critical friend and voluntary teacher taking part in all aspects of school life.
I know that Ystrad needs a councillor who will address all problems presented and I have the experience and enthusiasm to be an effective councillor and care enough about the problems in the ward and pledge and promise to “make a difference”.
