Leanne Wood, putting her money where her mouth is!

Or not, as the case may be.

In a decision that should shame certain Labour council leaders, Leanne Wood, recently elected leader of Plaid Cymru, has announced that she will NOT be taking the extra £20,000 she is now entitled to as Leader.

We in the party have already been keenly aware just how hard Leanne is working in her new role, travelling the length and breadth of the country, supporting local election candidates in the run up to the election on May 3rd. She would certainly earn a pay rise, and it is to her enormous credit that she has made this decision.

Leanne was elected because many in Plaid Cymru see her as a politician of integrity, honesty and decency, who stands firmly by her principles and who will do what she says she will do. As a strong supporter of low paid staff, and a strong objector to greed and corruption in public office, I suspected that Leanne would possibly make this decision, and I am delighted to have been right!

Da iawn Leanne, you are a shining example of what a leader should be.
